Transatlantic Dialogue

PNRasmussen-Howard DeanPES delegation with Robert Wexler

The PES is committed to developing strong Euro-Atlanticist partnerships with political forces that are, like us, committed to working for a fairer world.

New challenges now face the international community, including ensuring fair trade and UN reform, tackling climate change and terrorism. The PES therefore believes that it is more important than ever before to have greater dialogue with partners around the world on how to tackle these challenges.

The PES is building dialogue with the US Democrats within the framework of our “Global Alliances for the 21st Century” initiative. This initiative identifies common progressive approaches on priority areas of concern. Nuclear nonproliferation and climate change feature amongst our latest transatlantic policy papers. Forthcoming reports will address the responsibility to protect – the case for humanitarian intervention abroad; the IT dimension of the United Nations Millennium Goals for development; and decent work – the social dimension of globalization.
