Why campaign for the European elections? Because we can only find a way out of the crisis if we work together in Europe. In the Town Hall, in national Government, and in the Europe we must work together to tackle the challenges of unemployment, social injustice and climate change. Europe can be a friend in the storm, if it takes the right course. In five years of conservative domination of the European Parliament and the other European institutions, Europe has gone in the wrong direction. Europe under the conservatives has placed all its faith in the market. That’s why Europe’s socialist, social democratic, labour and democratic progressive parties are working together to offer a New Direction for Europe. That’s why we in the Party of European Socialists agreed our joint manifesto ‘People First: A New Direction for Europe’. Get involved because it matters, because together we can make the difference.
