Kovács is taking the right steps on tax fraud
The proposals of László Kovács, European Commissioner for taxation and Customs Union, to fight tax fraud in the European Union were warmly welcomed by Hans Eichel, coordinator of the PES Lisbon Network and former German Minister for finances, who promised the support of European social democrats.
Commissioner Kovács wants all EU member states to take active part in the fight against tax fraud and tax evasion by revealing information about bank accounts held by people resident in other countries to the authorities in the country where they live.
Hans Eichel commented “The proposals of Laszlo Kovács are important to end the scandal of tax havens in the European Union. It is fully in line with the resolution of the 20 biggest developed and emerging economies for a new, more just and more stable global financial order.”
