PES congratulates Portuguese Socialists on victory in general elections
The PES congratulates Prime Minister José Sócrates and the Portuguese PS (Socialist Party) for their victory in yesterday’s general elections.
PES President Poul Nyrup Rasmussen said “this is a good outcome for the PS and it is the result of four years of progressive governance. The result shows that the Portuguese people support the social policies implemented by José Sócrates and reject the right-wing pessimism at a moment when the financial crisis affects the EU the most”.
