Effectively, I’m proud of the work developed by the Portuguese Presidency, and by the cooperation of European Union Member States, in the signature of the “European Union Reform Treaty”. Undoubtedly, we are on the right way.
In fact, as you know, only with a strong and united Europe we will be able to overcome the current difficulties.
On the other hand, it is clear that all Member States will benefit with the new decision mechanisms introduced by this new treaty.
The World needs an effective Europe, able to intervene in the important matters. Finally, I believe that a new way for the European Union and the rest of the world has begun.
Let’s go to work!

1. The reform Treaty is not the Graal. par chourka

I would like to underline that the next Lisbon Treaty is far from being satisfactory. The way it has been negociated (behind closed doors by civil servants of national diplomatic bodies not accountable before public opinion), its content (withdrawal of all the symbolic signs of the Union, etc) made this text worse than the constitutionnal Treaty. But, this text is NECESSARY for the EU to go forward, so as activists, we will take and promote it. But, national leaders and Chiefs of Gvt/State should not take it for a blind support. The way to a more integrated Union is far to be completed. As Marco said "let's go to work!", let the Union be deepend, let the Europeans travel, work and/or settle freely. We, as socialist, have to focus on how to provide fairness, equity, solidarity and justice to all in this process.2. Treaty of Lisbon par marco

Yes, I agree with you, we have a long road ahead to materialize completely these objectives. But, as you now, in politics, as in our life, sometimes we have to be pragmatic, so I think the Treaty of Lisbon is a great step towards the future. At the moment, as you say, it’s very important to work in order to divulge these very important values “fairness, equity, solidarity and justice” and the identity of Europe to the people. So let’s get to work, let’s organize meetings, conferences about these points, with the purpose of moving forward with the construction of a more just, liable and economically stronger Europe Marco Lacomblez LeitãoVous devez vous identifier afin de pouvoir Affichez vos commentaires .
